A Performance of We Are Only Moving Towards Each Other

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a performance I did of We Are Only Moving Towards Each Other lately for the Screen Walks program by Fotomuseum Winterthur and The Photographers’ Gallery last December 13th, 2023.

In this performance, I intertwine We Are Only Moving Towards Each Other with two newer works, A Crucifixion (a browser poem told in titles and histories, a reenactment of the event) and Dreaming (a generative, popup story) while reciting, clicking, confessing, and moving between each piece. I've been experimenting with reading this piece live over the past few months, already hosting readings of it in Berlin, Manila, and San Francisco... very grateful to debut its first edition for the screen with Screen Walks (thanks to Jon and Marco, the curators).  There's also a short Q&A at the end about technical set-up, if that interests you.

Like every other edition of the piece, each reading is unique; inherently made to be infinitely performable, recomposable, and reconfigurable. As a 'concrete browser poem', I love how the structure of the piece overwhelms the desktop: how every click, close, stutter, and stop changes the configuration and readings of the piece. Seeing, playing, and performing the piece over the past year, I constantly see new interpretations and assemblages.

In a way, this video also acts as a walkthrough of the piece in case you can't figure out how to navigate to the next... enjoy!

More performances in the next months! I'm continuing with a durational performance this December 2023–January 2024 on the Screen Walks Twitch, performing new vignettes & dream sequences. You can follow me on my social accounts (Instagram, Twitter) to get some sense of when I'll go live next, or follow the Screen Walks Twitch directly.
